Beets n’ Greens Smoothie

Being the last day of summer today, I thought it would be a good day for one last smoothie recipe before the mornings become too damp and cold for smoothies. I love having a smoothie for breakfast because it’s quick, easy, I can drink it on the go, and most importantly it allows me to get a couple of servings of fruit and vegetables in before I even start my day. This recipe requires a high powered blender because the beets are quite dense but if you don’t have a high powered blender you could also use leftover beets that have been cooked which makes them a lot softer.

Beets n’ Greens Smoothie Recipe

  • 1 big handful of baby spinach (I use the pre-washed organic spinach to cut down on time)
  • 2 small or 1 large beet, cut into halves or quarters
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
  • 1 tbsp raw cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup hemp seeds or hemp powder
  • 2 cups almond or other non dairy milk

Combine all ingredients in high powered blender until smooth and serve.
