Alison McCleary

Registered Clinical Counselor

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC.
My primarily focus is to tailor the therapeutic experience to meet the specific needs of the individuals I meet and work with. I truly believe that no two clients are alike and therefore, I come to the therapeutic relationship open to the ideas, needs and desires of each client. I address client issues through many different frameworks but specifically practices from a client-centred approach, with a deep belief in empowerment and shame-resiliency. I believe that nothing matters more in therapy than the relationship between the client and me, so I work diligently to foster safety, security and a sense of sacred sharing. I have experience with a wide range of presenting problems including anxiety, low-mood, interpersonal relationship issues, excessive guilt, parenting problems, life changes and more. I work with youth, adults and couples. A huge part of the work I do centres on feeling like the client and I are on the same team, working together to create wellness. I strive to foster change through connection, using the therapeutic relationship as a template for learning lessons, becoming more whole and trusting our inner story-teller. I look forward to starting this journey with you.
